Obama is playing to lose.
Mitch McConnell: ‘There is a widespread belief on the other side of the aisle that the health bill was a huge mistake.‘
Gee, ya think? Troops may stay in Iraq. But just remember it is not because of the oil!!!
The Family Research Council wants you to take a survey. I did it, and quite happily told them what I thought of their bigoted, evil little organization.
Interesting. Probably B.S. ATM Cash drying up?
Stocking Stuffer! Check out the “Don’t Blame Me, I voted for Hillary” products in the store. Yes, you can!
Hooping. Wow, I love this mini movie. It’s odd, fun, and is shot in late night, deserted, not pretty sections of downtown Los Angeles. The end is almost poignant.
More random gratitude list: Bill Clinton, early morning, the Black Hills of South Dakota, Matador Beach near Malibu, Almond Roca, interesting people, books, interstate highway system, Social Security, California, funny people, blogtalkradio, both ben and jerry, wind, horses.

I’ve been seeing this quote multiple times since the election:
“I’ve seen it happen time after time. When the Democratic candidate allows himself to be put on the defensive and starts apologizing for the New Deal and the fair Deal, and says he really doesn’t believe in them, he is sure to lose. The people don’t want a phony Democrat. If it’s a choice between a genuine Republican, and a Republican in Democratic clothing, the people will choose the genuine article, every time; that is, they will take a Republican before they will a phony Democrat, and I don’t want any phony Democratic candidates in this campaign.” – Harry S. Truman, 1952 speaking to a National Convention banquet of the Americans for Democratic Action.
Seems to sum it up well. Despite all this nonsense that Obama and his band of glue-sniffing minions are socialist/marxists, a meme that Republicans have rolled out and managed to convince a large majority of the public, the Democratic base and Indies don’t see much difference in the corporate style and money dependence between either party. If you’re going to vote for fake Dems, you might as well go the whole mile and punch the ticket for Republicans. Harry Truman had it right IMHO. Not only that but the fake Dems and their witless leader have proven themselves incompetent and clueless. Obama thinks the Republicans are going to cooperate now? Get real. And when POTUS talks about “compromise,” he’s really talking capitulation. There’s a wee bit of difference.
In Obama’s speech in India:
‘”Throughout my life, including my work as a young man on behalf of the urban poor, I have always found inspiration in the life of Gandhiji and in his simple and profound lesson to be the change we seek in the world,” he said.
“I am mindful that I might not be standing before you today, as president of the United States, had it not been for Gandhi and the message he shared with America and the world,” he added.’
Sure, Gandhi is the first person I think of when I whisper the name Barack Obama [which btw, I don't do very often].
I am beyond astonished with the man. Is he trying to lose it all? Perhaps, he’s already lost it in more ways than one.
On an interesting side note, I picked up a small article right before the elections. It was about Corker from Tennessee addressing a group of well-heeled supporters. He said the Republican leadership has no intention of repealing HCR. The article reported an audible gasp in the room. Corker said Republicans will, indeed, tweak the bill, which in my mind means shine the apple even brighter for the insurance companies. The insurance hacks got what they wanted out of the Dems, now they’ll make sure to remove any restrictions that aren’t fully corporate-friendly. Couldn’t find the exact article I read but here’s a link to Corker’s announcement:

We’re all being nailed to the wall.
I did manage to catch part of the National Geographic’s piece on Hillary Clinton and the State Department. Pretty impressive. I don’t know how she keeps the schedule up. It’s nice to know someone is working hard for the benefit of country, even though I don’t agree with our Afghanistan policy. Just looks like a lose/lose for everyone.
But then, if the ATM’s dry up, we won’t need to worry about war in Afghanistan or anywhere else. We’ll have one right at home!
Of course the Republicans don’t intend to repeal health care “reform”. What The Powers That Be have now is another one of those wedge issues that they can trot out for a few election cycles to keep us all frothing at the mouth at each other while Rome burns to the friggin’ ground…
Not only do they not intend to overturn the Health Whatever Bill, but they couldn’t do it even if they wanted to. Both the Senate and the President have the power to stop them.
However, it looks like Smith-Lipinski is now going to come up for a vote. I have very little confidence that this atrocious piece of anti-choice ignorance will be vetoed by our “feminist” President.
Barry’s parents met at one of Ghandi’s marches.
thanks for the link Peggy Sue. I said as much last night…

Obama invokes Gandhi, whose ideal eludes India”; the NY Times doesn’t mean Indira or Satjay. The natives themselves weary of O’s endless recital of G’s platitudes, however.
Just another “Don’tcha feel smug having voted for the off-white guy?” shout-out.
There is an International Confrence of Smug People being held next week in Paris so far only MR and Ms Obama have decided to attend….
I was too superior to attend.
The entire country of France would automatically be included, yes?
per the ATM scare: JSOM, you are like a teenage girl who likes to scream at stupid, scary movies when Freddie Kruger invades their pink, stuffed animal bedroom.
(I totally guessed on your bedroom interior design.)
You are correct on all counts, TL.
As I read that (strangely constructed English sentences btw) my first thought was “well the banks are holding the money for their ATMs.
Do you want me to tell you something really subversive Love is everything it’s cracked up to be. That’s why people are so cynical about it. . . . It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for. And the trouble is, if you don’t risk anything, you risk even more.
