Pelosi On An Obama Second Term

FLASH: When asked today about Obama’s intentions in a potential second term Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said,

“We need to re-elect the President so the public can find out what he intends to do.”

Asked to elaborate she added,  ”It’s like the healthcare law, if we pass Obama for a second term we’ll find out what’s in him. Many people suspect deep inside he’s full of dangerous anti-Americanism or even extreme narcissism. But I have it on good authority that he’s chock full of delightful buttercrunch toffee. Now, if you’ll excuse me I’m scheduled to open the  Fresno Food Stamp Carnival sponsored by Pizza Hut this afternoon. You should come by. As you know food stamps are good for the economy. Plus we’re giving away wings!”

And now a super fun time apocalypse poll:

The latest iteration of my L.A. snapshots is here. Give it some love, please…

Also: Have a great weekend!

Also, here’s a little apocalypse themed music to go with our poll…and it’s a really interesting piece of late 20th century pop.

great pictures but where’s Bob Barker

  2. Zaladonis says:

Can’t believe you didn’t put Hillary and Cher in the poll.

My money’s on them. If I had to choose one? Well, Hillary, natch.

    • sophie says:

I would have thought Joan Rivers and Joan Collins..but that’s just me.

    • propertius says:

I’m not sure that Cher, Joan Rivers, or Joan Collins would qualify as “carbon-based” anymore – are you going by mass or volume?

  3. WW says:

    Very funny.

  4. JohnSmart says:

yeah… the Cher joke is officially over for me though…at one point it was so random to include Cher that it was funny cuz it never made sense, like say including George Burns would have in 1980.

Now the Cher thing just seems gratuitous. I say leave her alone. She’s a nice valley girl who done good, had some troubles..but is still kinda cool….expresses a lot of love for her daughter/son….

Hillary is a good choice though…she WOULD survive.

As for Bob…are some pics of him on that other blog but his page here covers him pretty well

    • Zaladonis says:

Leave Cher alone? Sounds like you think the Cher joke is a jab at her. I always thought it had to do with the fact that she aced so many mediums (recording, concert, TV, movies, stage) and no matter how many times it seemed she was down for the count or biting off more than she could chew she always came back, proved herself again and had another big success.

      I love Cher.

I want to post a youtube of her but there’s so much to choose from! So here she is winning an Academy Award. Her competition was Meryl Streep (Ironwood), Glenn Close (Fatal Attraction), Holly Hunter (Broadcast News), Sally Kirkland (Anna). Not shabby. And as an added bonus we get to see Paul Newman showing us how to still be sexy without surgery or hair dye in advancing middle age.

    • tamerlane says:

I think my sister still has her cassette single of Gipsies, Tramps, and Thieves.

  5. JohnSmart says:

I love Cher…. thought her on the list was too easy. Been done.

    that’s all the omission was…

  6. Lisa Spinelli says:

I love Cher, too. Ever see Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean?

    • sophie says:

Lisa, I saw that movie in a theater in Coral Gables,Fl. that had a wine bar. I thought perhaps it was the wine that made it seem so…odd. Loved Sandy Dennis.too.. Can’t remember who played the transgender role and turned out to be the father of somebody’s kid.. ..

  7. sophie says:

    A bit o.t. but…don’t make Father Obama mad…

Loved the photos [at the link] JWS. Didn’t realize LA had a serious fish market. Love visiting fish markets at dawn in seafaring cities. The best ones I’ve seen are in Tokyo and Venice.

    • JohnSmart says:

Yeah…LA is a port town. I’m not big on fish so i have no idea is the fish markt here compares well to others. I’d bet not. But the “port” section – San Pedro – was once a huge canning center….no more. In fact if you look at a map of the city limits you see a bizarre strip of LA that goes from Watts to the sea/San Pedro and is only about a mile wide. This was a specific plan to ensure that LA had a port. City leaders just gobbled up enough land to get to the ocean…and no more.

  9. NoEmptySuits says:

    Bob Barker photos are A-dorable.

  10. Zaladonis says:

    Good grief.

New York’s Occupy Wall Street group is warning it could run out of money by the end of the month, raising questions about the future of the movement that sparked nationwide protests against economic injustice last year.

Donations to the group have slowed six months after it set up camp in a park near Wall Street, igniting the Occupy movement across the United States.

A report by Occupy Wall Street’s accounting group for the week ended March 2 showed it had $44,828 in a general fund in addition to $90,000 set aside to bail protesters out of jail during planned “American Spring” protests.

The report said, “At our current rate of expenditure, we will be out of money in THREE WEEKS.”

I see Romney has pulled ahead of Obama again in the head to head. It’s Rassmussen so I’d pull a few points off Romney by default. But it kinda amazes me that Romney has had a horrible month in the press. Obama has had his best month in a while and the race is close. As much as people are queasy about Romney, there are also queasy about giving Obama 4 more years.

Admittedly, this is from the Daily Caller, but where else can this stuff be found in the msm ?
Just curious, why does the DNC not get billed for at least part of this ? I know that all presidents do some of this, but the current one seems to travel with his own army ? Who’s he afraid of, Joe the Plumber ?

    • NoEmptySuits says:

I’m sure other admins did it too. But, it’s truly sickening. It’s part of what makes persons, like me, resent paying too much in taxes. Millions in expenses mean nothing to the doyens in DC — it’s sooo easy to spend other people’s money.

    • Zaladonis says:

Using tax dollars for this is, of course outrageous. NES is obviously right that other administrations have done this as well, though our current economy and radically increasing Federal debt make the outrage even more glaring.

But also this jumped out at me:

The five medium-capacity C-130s and four heavyweight C-17s will be used to ferry security vehicles, armored limousines and communications gear into cities ahead of Obama’s campaign appearances.

This is who we are. Doesn’t it sound more like mob bosses than a shining city upon a hill? While Americans superficially obsess over hair products, untalented celebrities and anti-aging potions, the truth is we’ve become a war society — and not only over there but right here.

I remember when W did the same and we said the same thing at that time. By “we” I mean those of us who said we opposed W and his policies. The “we” has changed, I think. I know my position on what the pResident does and how he spends my money hasn’t shifted regardless of who that pResident is. The obots, however continue to support and defend TehOne despite his continuation (and expansion) of nearly everything W. The cognitive dissonance makes my head hurt.

And Zal, you are so right, we have become a war society.

    • NoEmptySuits says:

“This is who we are. Doesn’t it sound more like mob bosses than a shining city upon a hill?”

Good catch, Zal. That is the most discomfiting bit in article.

    • tamerlane says:

Do they seriously think they can win NC again, when the margin was 14,000 in 2008? Or is that just a deke?

  13. leslie says:

Sorry NES, I thought I had used quotes around the first part of my comment.

  14. run_dmc says:

How come no “Walkers” on the list? I’d put my money on them.

    “Team Shane!”
