Win, Place, SHOW

Tonight: The OTHER thing Romney said. The thing that ought to have everyone talking…of course as usual  ”everyone” is talking about what the MSM tells them to talk about. Also on tap tonight: the politics of the moment and the war (in the immediate future?). Ah yes, juicy stuff. We at the John Smart Show aim to bring joy into your lives. Click right HERE at 6pm Pacific/9pm Eastern.  Your calls are most welcome. We’ve got the time, if you’ve got the opinion. 877-653-8381.

Where is your show tonight? A woman is speaking and it isn’t the lovely Lynne.

  2. leslie says:

I was unable to listen to your show. Don’t know why. I’ve gone from listening with great difficulty to being unable to listen at all. If I hear that woman say *BLOGTALK RADIO* one more time, I’ll lose it. I left a message at the site asking for help. I’ll see what happens. Just call me frustrated in chicago.

  3. Lorna Doone says:

Iwas able to get into two other shows when pressing your link, but not your show. Then finally got in during Anita Finlay’s call in. Then got disconnected when my cat stepped on my iPad and couldn’t get back in at all. Call me cranky in Denver.

  4. Lorna Doone says:

Okay…now I can’t even get into the archive. I miss listening to FDR intone “We have nothing to fear but fear itself!”

  5. JohnSmart says:

Hmm. Sorry Lorna. Not sure what was happening…hope you got to hear some of it.

  6. I’ll have to check out the archived version tomorrow. I’m just too exhausted after a long day right now. But I look forward to it in the morning.

  7. gxm17 says:

Loved your pledge rant, John. Glad I finally figured out how to tune in.

  8. leslie says:

I emailed blogtalk and they said to clear my cache and reconnect. They said that would do it. It didn’t. I have IE9. I don’t know ifr one of the updates got in the way. I couldn’t listen to the archives either.

  9. Listening now and just wanted to say that Lynn’s lawn sign poll did not actually contradict her verbal poll. According to her report, 2 people wouldn’t say. There’s a lot of that this year and it means something.

    Loved your pledge rant, also.

  10. zaladonis says:

Sounds like The Onion but it’s not.

Tim Pawlenty quit as co-chair of Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign on Thursday to become one of Wall Street’s top lobbyists in Washington. …

“While I regret he cannot continue as co-chair of my campaign, his new position advancing the integrity of our financial system is vital to the future of our country,” Romney said. “I congratulate him.”

    • paper doll says:

really weird…Pawlenty couldn’t have waited a couple of months? This isn’t just a rat leaving the ship, it’s a rat rocket laugnching himself off the tub .

his new position advancing the integrity of our financial system is vital to the future of our country,”

      help

    • boutis says:

What exactly was Pawlenty doing that was so vital? Was he just a figurehead they could do without when he got a better offer? He supposedly has been used in debate prep but what else? The pros are running Romney’s campaign and honorary chairmen come and go and do not run the day to day operations.

    • Dan Sh1138 says:

I wouldn’t neccessarily say that the “pros” are running Romney’s campaign

    • zaladonis says:

Clearly Republicans and Wall Street are solidifying their alliance, and Wall Street’s focus in 2013 and forward will be pushing legislative action. Although I really can’t imagine how much more legal cover they need – they’re already making tons of money and screwing the working/middle class. Guess greed and gluttony, and sociopathy, really have no boundaries at all. In any event, if Romney’s in the White House it’s a slam dunk for Wall Street shenanigans.

This further verifies that Romney thinks the way he made his mega fortune, and made mega fortunes for other richie riches, screwing workers, is nothing to be ashamed of. We’ll see how stupid Americans are. Have they already forgotten what brought on the ’08 financial crisis? Are they completely unaware that the same kind of toxicity is bubbling on Wall Street as we speak? Will they ignore these signs of what will happen if Romney’s in the Oval Office? It’s very hard to not think these people, like Obamabots, deserve what they’re about to get.

    • Andy Lewis says:

Zal, It’s not that we’ve “already forgotten” ’08, it’s that the only choice on offer is Finanicalist D or Financialist R. I don’t see how a positive case could be made for either.

    • zaladonis says:

Andy, those are not the only choices.

    • Dan Sh1138 says:

You can vote for Lynne of Lakeland…just saying.

    • Senneth says:

Well, Zal, I think Americans can be very stupid indeed. They voted in W and O. What more needs to be said?

    • zaladonis says:

I grew up hearing, “It’s part of the German character,” and I was too young and short on facts to say it out loud but I thought, “no, it’s human nature.”

“I don’t believe that the big men, the politicians and the capitalists alone are guilty of the war. Oh, no, the little man is just as keen, otherwise the people of the world would have risen in revolt long ago! There is an urge and rage in people to destroy, to kill, to murder, and until all mankind, without exception, undergoes a great change, wars will be waged, everything that has been built up, cultivated and grown, will be destroyed and disfigured, after which mankind will have to begin all over again.” — Anne Frank

    • Lynne in Lakeland says:

Thanks for the endorsement Dan. I’ve added another plank to my platform. All chargers must be the same. Does anyone else have 1000 chargers laying about and you don’t want to throw them out just in case? Then you cannot find the one you need? Just me?

Tariffs, the obvious, single payor healthcare, more public bathrooms and universal chargers.

      I think it’s a winner.

Saw this article on Washington Examiner, I’m not sure if it’s an article or advertorial or what?

If you want to know about the rest of Romney’s remarks at the fundraiser, this is a corker:

  14. JohnSmart says:

I do find it weird that Pawlenty could not wait 6 weeks. I suspect he had no real responsibility, figured out that he bombed in the campaign, bombed at the convention, and didn’t feel like hanging out for a lower level – possible – cabinet position.

    • zaladonis says:

He got a job offer that was one he wanted to take.

He took it now, rather than in six weeks, because he or Romney or Wall Street, or two or all three, wanted to make a point now. Let’s see; what could it be?

    • votermom says:

The position is a job offer of a lifetime – it’s an extremely powerful lobby. It’s like being the head of the Banker’s OPEC. The former CEO, Steve Bartlett, served since 1999 and is retiring. They are going by the FSR timetable and not the campaign timetable.
Although by selecting Pawlenty the FSR is clearly betting that Romney will win. That’s Pawlenty’s big draw – close ties to the next WH admin.
And before you all go *barf* & *ew* at lobbyists – hey, that’s Washington for ya.

    • zaladonis says:

No, that’s Washington and Wall Street for you and the others who support and make excuses for this train wreck.

I am not contributing to this fiasco, I am not joining my voice or my vote to Romney any more than I did to Obama or Bush.

But don’t worry, after it all ends up crumbled around our feet you can join the chorus of, “We didn’t know! There was no way to know!” and that should make you feel all fuzzy and non-complicit.

    • votermom says:

Yeah whatever. Your hands are clean as we hit the Titanic. Nobody can blame you.

  15. paper doll says:

Whatever the position offered to Pawlenty…it couldn’t wait 6 weeks? Who leaves a Presidential campaign with 6 weeks to go ? I know it’s all Kabuki theater, but they could at least try to make it appear real. seeesh

  16. Wow that was odd. I just wrote an extremely long comment but after I clicked submit my comment didn’t show up. Grrrr… well I’m not writing all that over again.
Anyway, just wanted to say great blog!
