Go here. Watch speech. Come back. Discuss. I think it might. Matter, that is. The man talking is not the President we know. The Jesus stuff…weirdly…may help him. NOTE: I just realized that the speech is divided up on different pages at the Daily Caller. The clip on page 2 is particularly startling. 2 VERY different men are speaking. Both named Obama.

Well… it matters to me, but it matters to me what a phony he is.
A few more thoughts. His cadence and “accent” will both be startling to some. Fox won’t ignore this. I bet MSNBC does. CNN will try to. I do think if this is seen that more than a few Obama leaning independents could quietly walk away.
The most galling aspect of this though is the complete disregard the media had for us in 2008. They simply ignored this. THEY LIED. THEY ARE THE ENEMY. I wish the info about Andrew Sullivan in the piece shocked me. The man is a grotesque. He along with every other lying piece of shit in the Obama media stuffed this video. This is way beyond bias. It’s pathological. The media in this country is dangerous. And Obama may well have skated past this clip in 2008 even if we had all seen it. He’s talking “black” to a black audience. Would that have really mattered? Still, Obama was protected by a criminal cabal of media cultists.
Finally, to the audience that is most likely to get riled by this the Jesus riffing dampens the blow. The words are the exact right Jesus words…does that group buy it or think he’s faking? Interestingly, it may be the simplest and most cogent defense he’s given of his alleged Christianity. To me he appears to be a total fake…but I’m not an evangelical – a group that often seems to accept the words and ignore the actions of politicians.
Very interesting on the Jesus point, JWS. It occurred to me that it may help him wit those who suspect he’s a Muslim. (Mind you, he sounds insincere to me, but he almost always does.)
Query: What’s that odd (jacking-off-like) motion he’s making with his right hand while speaking of Jesus? Does it have some significance in black churches?
“THEY ARE THE ENEMY”
They are nazi brownshirts, c. 1928. An overused slur, but in this case, dangerously accurate.
Oops, JWS, I posted the vid on the last thread thinking you hadn’t seen it yet. Glad you found it.
Here’s my comment from the last thread:
No one who’s always sensed Obama’s omnipresent anger seething just beneath the surface will be surprised by this. Eg, he’s always appeared angry to both imust and me. Most people, however, may be surprised to see this side of him. Don’t know how much of an impact it’ll have — hard for me to judge.
NES – you’re black, right? I think you said that once. If you aren’t ignore this comment. I’m keenly interested in what antiObama black people (sorry that is awkward phrasing) think of the clip. I am not too surprised by how “black” he’s trying to sound. He’s a fraud. I know it. So what. My guess is that many Obama leaning white voters will be surprised to hear how he sounds. IF they hear it at all, which is the question of the night. MR is at about 55% of the white vote. That number goes up even a little in places like Ohio, Wis. , Etc and the game changes quite a lot.
Nope, JWS, not black. I’m brown, as in originally from that region known during Brit imperialism as the “Near East.”
I think Run may fit the bill for your question.
Opps. Sorry. My bad. I know there is a diverse audience but tend not to think much about it.
JWS, are you sure MR has only 55% of the white vote? I’d heard that it was closer to 65%, but perhaps that’s just white males.
Actually Obama sounds high in parts of the speech.
Yessssssss, he does!
NES, I got that # from the national journal poll today of likely voters. It’s 47/47. Dead even – and it used the 08 turnout template which is not good news from BHO.
http://www.nationaljournal.com/daily/obama-romney-tied-among-likely-voters-20121002
I’ll say this — If I were African-American, I think I’d be quite angry about the history of blacks in this country, and I’d have been extra-distressed at the plight of blacks in New Orleans and attributed some of the neglect to residual racism (as in, these people didn’t matter as much) and the rest to poverty. It’s no different than inner city violence — if white gangs were running roughshod over white neighborhoods, there’d be serious police crackdowns.
All that said, I’d vote Republican — because I really do think the Dem Party benefits from African Americans being a dependent-underclass voting block. In addition, I’d never forget that Dems, historically, were behind slavery and Jim Crow.
The Milli Vanilli of Politics (h/t AoSHQ) was lying about the Stafford Act & NOLA Katrina relief — I actually lived in NOLA at time (my parents & brother still live there — in fact, I moved from NOLA because of Katrina). Anyway, and even though I am no fan of Bush’s, the feds gave something like $7 billion up front in Fed money to NOLA with no strings attached & all together NOLA got a lot more Fed money than NYC did for 9/11. Further, as bad as FEMA’s response was (and make no mistake — it *was*) there was plenty of blame to go around starting with Mayor Nagin (who, btw, is black and is currently under investigation as part of a Katrina-related kickback scheme) and the Dem. Governor at the time Blanco. I’m not excusing Bush or FEMA (so I’m not addressing anyone who want to try to claim I am) but I’m here to tell you the blame was put disproportionately on them & not enough on Nagin & Blanco.
Good to have the facts, angie. Thanks.
As some one who has lived in the South, Montgomery Alabama to be precise, his accent drives me NUTS. I may give Brenda Lee a pass but come on. Granted perhaps I, like every other person on the planet does not know Obama’s full story and never will because who is going to actually investigate and demand the truth, but I am fairly certain the only place he lived below the Mason Dixon line is Hawaii.
Fraud, phony ass wipe. There is nothing genuine about that man.
Silly, it’s a Kansas accent!
PLEASE do not hold back. lol
What’s not to love about a man who exploits black people with a fake preacher accent, gets people all wee weed up, and than delivers 22% unemployment? You think Obama has been a blessing to the white community, you should see the love he’s shown black people. All they got to hang onto is a phony internet legend about free Obamaphones.
But, but … Johnnie Cochrane assured us, you can’t tell what a black man sound like.
Obama will probably come out and say something like “don’t judge me on.a speech I made 5 years ago.. judge me based on what I’ve done since then and what I want to do for you in the future”
Obama isnt so much of a phony douche as he is just a fucked up malignant narcissist who knows what buttons to push and when to push them… Maybe he’s BPD… Nothing shocking in this video if anyone has done any research on the facade at all… This is what he does.
Interesting that it came out a day before the 1st debate though.
I wonder if there are more videos to come and this stuff will just trickle out between now and election day… Bring it on!
I didn’t mean to imply that Obama isn’t a phony douche, he is, but that’s too simple a take on it.. he’s definitely got a nice set of neurosis churning around up there, maybe even sociopathic.
Agreed. The timing is very interesting indeed.
Oh, yes, Dan, he is a sociopathic narcissistic a-hole. He cares only about himself- he has no overarching philosophical motivation. I wonder what he does when no one is looking. Not the kind of person that would help you change a tire on a lonesome country road, I would imagine. One thing that struck me though is that he is putting on a bit of that obnoxious cadence even now- he did it at that Las Vegas speech that he so callously attended on the day the terrorist event occurred. The cadence was alternated with the usual laughter and flirtatiousness. Where’s the beef?
“Interesting that it came out a day before the 1st debate though.”
I believe it’s intended as the antidote to “47%”
This video may trigger for many the realization-shock that we are dealing with a psycho. Similar to when Marge realizes Tom Ripley killed Dickie Greenleaf.
“Similar to when Marge realizes Tom Ripley killed Dickie Greenleaf.”
HA! The Talented Mr. Obama.
Good one, Tamer.
I suspect the timing has to do with those OFA phone calls being made to Catholics and Protestant groups in Ohio wherein OFA volunteers are asking these folks how they can support a guy who doesn’t believe in Jesus. And I do believe the Romney camp is behind it. They weren’t going to go there as long as Obama wasn’t going to go there, but since he did, all bets are off.
Link: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/2012/10/02/obama_camp_now_playing_the_mormon_card_in_ohio_291847.html
OK – watching the full speech now. First – “Where’s Reverend Wright at?” Seriously, where is he at. Yes, I now believe he was a college professor. Then what is up with the Cindy Brady lisp? Drunk or high. Full of shit either way.
And I will tell you this will hurt him if it is played in full. His other comment about how he doesn’t speak in front of preachers because politicians pale next to preachers. If a white poltician said something similar Chris Matthews would be calling he or she racist.
He makes me sick. Obama more than Chris Matthews but both of them make me sick.
Honk, honk!! The “where is he at?” thing was gratuitous and pandering and was insulting to me as a Black person who knows he knows better.
I do think Obama is think skinned and this has got to piss him off. After some slow news about push calls related to Catholic voters I suspect some of the Obama campaign thought they were in good shape promoting an attack against Romney’s religon. Now they will have to address Rev. Wright amoungst some coffee shop voters who will wonder about this video.
I am not sure I think it is a game changer for some of the undecided voters but I do think it will up the enthusiasm of the non-Obama voters and I don’t think it will encourage any of the Obama supporters to show more enthusiasm.
The main effect is that it WILL be talked about tomorrow and there will be “pundits” talking about it – primarily to degrad it. However the more something is talked about the more it is a distraction and that distraction hurts Obama rather than helps him.
Joe Lieberman figured out how to get under barry’s skin — whatever he said back in 2007 compelled barry to jack-up the old man right on the Senate floor.
oops! It was suppose to be thin skinned – can I blame it on autocorrect/
My opinion on the Jesus riffing in the speech is that Obama could split a loaf of bread into 40 loaves and fishes on national tv and not get any evangelicals to vote for him. I just don’t think they’ll believe he’s a genuine true Christian despite the Jesus talk.
And, yes – I’m black. It’s hard for me, though, to get a sense as to how his “black voice” as we call it in this clip will play out because I’ve been so turned off for so long by his wearing the many fake personas he wears that sometimes I can’t tell any longer whether other people care or not because I think everyone already knows he does this. When he did his speech in South Carolina in the primaries and not only adopted “black voice” but black voice pretending to be Denzel Washington pretending to be Malcolm X with his – “we’ve been bamboozled” crap – that was IT with a capital I and T for me, but I thought – why doesn’t everyone else see what a complete phoney he is and now it’s hard to know what people know about him and have factored in and what they don’t.
Look – I have many friends who have their “corporate voice” and their “down home” voice but, and this is actually a crucial distinction – that comes from the different worlds they actually lived in. They grew up with a cadence at home that they didn’t use when they went to school and then on to elite institutions. It’s actually a natural transition in speech for them – like speaking a different language at home with your family than the English you use at work. That’s why someone like Juan Williams who acted completely dumbfounded on Hannity tonight that anyone thought this was an issue probably literally does not understand what the big deal is.
Obama absolutely doesn’t have that background, though, so I know his “wearing” the black cadence is just an outright fake. That’s why I threw up in my mouth a little when he started doing it in the primaries in front of black audiences. But, I admit that I don’t have the perspective anymore given how unseemly I’ve long thought him as to how someone coming new to this fakery on his part will take it.
My only suspicion is that it gives non-black voters who might have been waffling the reason they need to desert him. But, just a gut instinct.
Thanks for sharing all that insight Run… I remember hearing the Obama as Denzel Washington as Malcom X speech and right around that time it really started to sink in for me that Obama was full of crap… It was a direct lift from the movie practically.
Also, I heard that Obamaphones don’t work at 3AM, so incase anyone is thinking about getting one…you might want to go with ATT or something.
Run, thanks. The smoothness of the transition between “languages” is the thing that I wanted perspective on. I see it all the time at the grocery store near me. Standard english with customers/spaglish with co-workers…all done with great ease and no affectation. Obama’s “accent” seems totally affected to me. He actually seems like a bad white politician trying to gin up some votes in a black church. I’m white so I wondered how my POV was affected.
I don’t know that this will move a lot of votes BUT I agree it gives some the permission they need to walk away from him – albeit quietly. After the riots here many white liberals quietly voted for the businessman GOP candidate in the next mayoral election that was up. L.A. elected an old white business man republican mayor for 2 terms. I wonder if that dynamic will play just enough to swing things. I think it could. The proof was in the pudding here. White liberals gave lip service to the “rebellion” meme – then voted for the law and order guy.
Run, I get that, but Obama’s fake black dialect is so obviously contrived. I can’t imagine that AAs can’t hear that. Or maybe they can and they just don’t care.
I have a deep affection for dialect, especially the ones I grew up around, and I had the same reaction you did of immediate revulsion when I first heard Obama perform his pathetic version of “black voice.”
Run – I only found this out a month or so ago, but Juan Williams was born in Panama. He and his family left there for America when he was young. See http://latino.foxnews.com/latino/community/2012/07/05/juan-williams-journey-to-freedom-from-panama/ for an interview with Williams and his son on their trip back to see where Dad had originated.
You wouldn’t know it from all the books he has written on US race relations; however, I think his immigrant beginnings – make him more sympathetic to Obama (both having to find ways to fit into the American Black experience — possibly treated like outsiders because or their backgrounds?).
Like you, I have found Obama to be such a fake for so long that it is hard to comprehend how others don’t see through him. From right-wing sites, I find most think this video is a big nothingburger — but most there were never going to vote for Obama anyway. Also those on right feel like nothing they have tried to bring to light on Obama has been covered or made any difference so they are kind of deflated right now.
BTW, I voted that it “hurts” him –but I think it only hurts him a little & not in the way it should — it should really hurt him with AA voters because his disdain for black people is pretty clear to me here with that idiotic accent of his (and yes, even though I’m not black myself I grew up in NOLA, which is 65% black & I do know what Run is talking about re: at home accent/at work accents in the black community). But the put on accent Obama used here was just insulting — not only because he didn’t grow up with an “at home” accent in Indonesia & Hawaii with his white mother & white grandparents as Run points out, but because the accent was so over-the-top ridiculous — Seriously, “Where’s ya dolla?” /rolls eyes. It was a caricature of an “at home” black accent that I would expect to find on some racist “Amos & Andy” type program in that only someone who holds the black community in contempt would think that is *how* black people talk — at home or otherwise.
YMMV
I don’t see what the big deal is. I’ve heard Oprah Winfrey go back and forth between a “black” accent and bland, TV English. I’ve also heard it from local politicians– they talk one way when they’re in Detroit and a different way when they’re speaking to a suburban white audience. The racially charged rhetoric is also something I’ve heard many, many times. But maybe it’s more shocking to the Bob and Sue Whitebreads of this world who don’t live close to a large city?
Jen, agree. My interest is in the people who may not have ever seen or thought of Obama as anything but as “smooth”, or “safe”.
Jen & John I disagree. I get switching language to suit the room. I can be totally affected. Irish, southern, Boston, New York and black from DC. The difference is that when I am putting on an accent I am putting on an accent. He is putting on a persona.
He grew up in Hawaii, Kansas and fill in the blank. Went to college in New York and law school in Boston. Where the hell does the Southern Preacher man come in to the picture? And to do an entire speech with a bad fake accent? Meryl Streep he is not.
John called him a hologram in 2008. Project your wishes and desires on him and they’ll all come true. He is that and a hollow man. There is nothing real there. Phony, fraud and an ass wipe.
And it still bothers me that he ended his sentence in a preposition.
I developed a slight Boston accent living in Boston. When a boarder of mine from Boston returned after visiting relatives, she returned with a thick accent, which I ‘caught’ from her after a few days. I picked up the phrase “y’all” from a GF from Kentucky. When I hang around my friend from Alabama, I start saying things like “I’m fixin’ to” and “that troubled her quite a little,” though not in a ‘bama accent. While I learned proper Hochdeutsch in school, I tend fall into a Berliner accent in conversation.
obama did not pick up the accent he uses in that video — he’s faking it, and it shows.
Forget any racial angle — that video reveals obama as the fake chameleon he is. I believe his cover may have been blown for many.
I’ve heard this explanation so many times, and beg to differ. A good example would be when Mitt Romney spoke to the NAACP and we heard him use the exact same speech patterns/inflection that he always uses.
Word from the Brits: It ain’t worth a damn.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/oct/03/obama-video-pastor-hurricane-katrina?CMP=twt_fd&CMP=SOCxx2I2
The Guardian is on par with MSNBC in their carrying of Obama’s water. I notice they too are spinning it exactly the same way Mark Halperin & his “Gang of 500″ are: old news, nothing to see here and kind of Romney’s fault. That’s the exact talking points from Brad Woodhouse (DNC communications director) earlier today before even seeing it. Also note how the article tried to drag Romney into at the end too — in a complete lack of irony Woodhouse demanded earlier today if Romney was going to “man up” and denounce the actions of Drudge & Hannity on his behalf and “is this the way you run your campaign, sir?”
Which all goes right back to the MSM covering for Obama on his actual, in context statements while having no problem distorting & lying about & completely fabricating those of his opponent (whether that opponent is Hillary, McCain/Palin or Romney/Ryan). And this is why it will hurt Obama far less than it should.
The Guardian can eat the Kornacki out of my Tomasky.
John – I should probably have elaborated a bit more on my personal perspective vis a vis Obama’s “wearing” the cadence. I think I might have mentioned this before, but probably long ago. He and I share backgrounds in having a white, mid-western mom and a “Kings English” speaking black African father (as all Africans from former British colonies who were wealthy enough to come to the West to go to college were). And, I’m not trying to say I’m some exotic either. There are actually more of us with these very similar backgrounds from the 60′s than people may think
I know no one – and I know quite a few – with this background who can at all naturally speak with a “down home” voice. If I try, I can fake it, but it sits very uneasily on me and I can spot it a mile away in another person who was raised with “King’s English” trying to front – enter Obama
I think the content of this video – juxtaposed with his “we are all the united states” comments – shows him to be the sociopath he is. Many politicians shade the truth and massage messages for different audiences. This shows someone who puts on a completely different persona from one audience/day to the next. Like Sybil. That’s not your average politician. That’s someone who is deeply disturbed, and also explains a lot about his behavior these past 4 years.
This accent may be even worse, if you can believe it:
Jaysus, Mary and Joseph! An Irish accent he’s got, too?
In 2008 when this video was recorded a woman named Hillary Clinton was also running for President. She gave a speech and used a bit of a Southern Accent and was hammered by the press. Last time I checked she was once First Lady of Arkansas and married to a Southern Gentleman so I can see how she might have picked it up. It is hard not to as I was told when we moved to Alabama. A kid in my class told me, “I used to talk normal, just like you,”
His accent is made up, created out of thin air, and no one in the media ever commented on it? Color me suprised, sugah lamb.
They will make it about anything else other than he’s a fraud.
I seem to remember your brother picking up a southern accent within 10 mins of moving to Alabama.
And he never lost it. The accent that is.
Can’t wait for him to address an Asian audience with tape pulling his eyes narrow and talking about how much Chow Mien he and MEechelle eat.
Oh and I forgot to answer….NO it doesn’t matter. Because 80% of the country will never hear it.
Plus it really cracks me us that Romney’s bunch really think they are going to get a fair shake in the Debates.
R 1st question. Mr Romney why do you want to kill babies????
O 1st question. Lord our God, why do we love you so much???
Kinda OT, but speaking of accents. I remember in 2008, the Vile Progs tried to push the meme that McCain was such a hawk that he even pronounced “Washington” with an “r”: Warshington. Yes. Of course he does. He was raised around here and that’s how we native Washingtonians pronounce it. Which, IMO, makes it the correct pronunciation. Just like the correct pronunciation of Baltimore is “Balmer.”
One thing we do know, somebody’s debate camp training was interrupted and his cage rattled enough that his campaign felt they had to issue a complaint about this video.
This video is no surprise to anyone who’s been paying attention, has the msm even aired it ?
Rachael Maddow apparently had a slight meltdown over it, call the airing of it ‘racist’. But then, like O”’s pandering, nobody does meltdowns like Ms Maddow.
This article explains Ohio’s poll results and is a good read::;
http://www.americanthinker.com/2012/10/four_more_years_of_this.html
http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/2012/10/02/Media-Sends-Dangerous-message-libya
O’s going to get away with this coverup..Hillary would be under the bus by now, except that Bill is on the campaign trail for O.
This comment is from your link above. I thought it was apropos, although the last statement may be a bit harsh. It continues to be dumbfounding to me that people cannot see through the shuck and jive. It is so obvious.
“I have lived my entire life, witnessing a dozen Presidents, none have been as corrupt as this one. He seems like a side show puppet. He is glib, jive, hip, and extraordinarily dangerous. He has dismantled our government, he is seemingly oblivious to the harm and dangers he provokes. That he has a scintilla of credibility speaks thunderous volumes to the total disconnect that a vast majority of our fellow Americans display. His appointees to the highest level of government are neither adept nor actually competent. We pay an extraordinary price in not just money but National Treasure sacrificed in arrogant disrespect. He has succeeded in dividing the last vestiges of E Pluribus Unum. Now part of that divide has me despising those dumb enough to cast a vote for this tweedle dum. Sort of the old saw that if you are not part of the solution you are the problem.”
I can understand how some may have the desire to remain a liberal in the old tradition, but this guy is such a clearly disgusting character. I think the characterization of Romney as a super rich elite was the successful way that obama and his dogs have maintained their hold on as many as they have. An us vs. them mentality that has worked throughout the ages.
Didn’t O adopt the same accent in SC during the 08 primaries? As I recall, he did. He also used some version of it while addressing the CBC last year, didn’t he? (That one I’m less sure of.) my point is people have seen this act before and don’t hold it against him. I think his words in the bits about Karina and the LA riots are more significant — they’re not “post-racial,” and that’s a change from how he speaks to white/mixed audiences.
Yes, when he was visiting black churches with Donnie “Pray the Gay Away” McClurkin. The progs don’t seem to hold that association against him either & the MSM certainly didn’t find it newsworthy.
H/T mcnorman:
Side by side comparison of Obama’s speech patterns (starts at about the 1 min mark if you can’t stand Hannity or Carlson):
I think this video is a net plus for Obama. It actually re-enforces the (false) image that the progs had of him in 2008 as an empassioned advocate for the poor and minorities. It also gives the MSNBC club an excuse to yell “racists” even louder. The video will only put off people who were, for the most part, already put off by the president.
And…it changes the subject from Libya.
Perhaps Kim, but I don’t think that the hits are going to stop. Univision unleashed some anger. Now, come the emails.
http://www.businessinsider.com/stratfor-the-us-works-with-cartels-2012-9?utm_source=twbutton&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=law
This is exactly the same stuff I wrote about in 2008, 2009, 2010.
Nobody cared. Actually a lot of people, including anti-Obama Dems, thought I went too far in calling him a sociopath. Nice to see that taboo’s been broken. Doesn’t matter. Nobody will care now. If anything videos like that are less shocking, not more so.
Unless someone has a video of Obama in bed with little boys, this is all just part of the same show.
I sadly agree. If anything it will make some people think he was “keepin’ it real”.
Romney is in the same position Hillary was in in 2008.
The media will allow nothing to upset the pre-arranged coronation.
Accumulated apathy is what will do Obama in – not Shock and Awe. The MSM can shoot down or cover up the S & A, but there isn’t much they can do about the apathy.
And then what?
We’ll have Romney.
How many ways can Americans screw themselves.
Or Stein
Not a chance.
That’s not how this story goes.
First we have to hit bottom and that takes an Obama or a Romney and the ordinary instigators and fools history needs to elect them.
Well there really isn’t much enthusiasm for Romney either, which is why this could end in a tie – or virtual tie.
Your poll didn’t have an option for a wash. Like the Romney video, I suspect this will help with the base, alienate the opposition further, and give the middle something to think about. I do think this will hurt Obama with the middle more than the Romney video, to the extent that it gets airplay. That’s where the media bias works in Obama’s favor.
With regard to Run_DMC’s thoughtful comment above about the corporate voice vs the “down home” voice, I wonder how many black voters will perceive this fine distinction, and how many will come to the conclusion of, “There you go again, white people, not understanding our ways.” Will it even occur to many that Obama is simply faking this “authenticity?” Or will they interpret it more personally?
. Guys with hair deficiencies always love the dyke hair jokes.
“Anonymous” fits you.
With all due respect, Maddow’s haircut is not attractive, considering how much her income has increased of late. She could still have a man-cut if that’s her preference, but why not get at least, a stylish one ?
She has a gym teacher haircut…She is an attractive person, when she isn’t trying to hide that fact.
With all due respect, your hairstyle leaves a lot to be desired, conner.
Somewhat entertaining:
CollegeHumor’s Favorite Funny Videos
The Maddow line is funny. That is the alpha and omega of my reason for posting it, which i will no doubt switch out in a day or two.
Maybe Tracey Jordan explaining why Catholics eat fish on Friday?
Exactly, JWS…it is funny. I don’t know which ‘team’ the complaining “Anonymous” plays for, but I can tell you lesbians make fun of “dyke 101″ haircuts too. I do.
Wouldn’t it be weird if Obama ended up getting exactly 47% of the vote on election day?
