There’s Got To Be A Day Before…

Been flipping back and forth between CNN and Fox all day as I work. It’s impossible to make sense of the polls at this point and it’s not worth bothering with them. Dems are insisting Obama’s slight lead is real, GOPS are insisting Dems are over sampled.

What does interest me is the impression I’m getting from what are obviously partisan commentators. The Pro Obama crew is cocky. The GOP leaners are slightly deflated. Do they know something we don’t? Some do, no doubt. Most know nothing. Rove began predicting a late election night last week. This is as good a “tea leaf” as any. It’s just too damn close to call.

Having said that – do we need any more proof that the MSM has protected Obama than this?  Remarkably,  CBS released evidence that Obama did not call the Benghazi attack terrorism when asked directly on the day before the election when no one is paying attention. They’ve had this interview for weeks. WEEKS.

FYI, MoveOn has just issued a call for rallies on Wed to protest a potentially disputed election. The directive to do so would come from OFA.

The Pro Obama crew is cocky.

All they’ve ever really had (even in 2008) is the “Obama is inevitable” narrative & projection; now it’s all they have left. In 2008 TeamObama mocked McCain the weekend before election day for a rally in Mentor, Ohio with 4000 in attendance saying he was only able to fill high school gyms with 4000 people. This past Friday, Obama had a rally at a high school gym in Lima, Ohio & on Saturday at that same McCain location in Mentor, Ohio. Attendance at each was around 4000. Pride goeth before the fall.

The GOP leaners are slightly deflated.

Eh, matter of perception. Both George Will & Peggy Noonan — who were gaga for Obama last time all the way up to this summer saying no way could Obama lose & the GOP should just concentrate on Congressional races– are giddily backing Romney. On Sunday Will said it was going to be a 328 EV landslide even. These two wouldn’t be doing that if they didn’t know which way the wind was blowing.

Interesting point about will and noonan being bullish. They were very lukewarm about Romney for a long time, soot may be good news.

I get a feeling that many obama supporters wouldn’t really mind a Romney victory. They are dutifully following that which they are culturally expected to do, but, perhaps even subconsciously, may vicariously enjoy seeing a Romney win- as long as the great white guilt is absolved, which it will be in their case.

    • Pips says:

That’s what I sense too when seeing ‘people in the street’ being asked on tv about their vote, answer – without conviction! – something along the line of ‘Oh … well … he’s our first black president, so … we really should give him a second term’.

  4. Kris says:

I heard that Obama gave many interviews today including Ryan seacrest. If true, it would suggest that his numbers are not so good, that he needs the gullible young. We shall see tomorrow.

  5. Clover says:

Obama wishes the superdelegates could drag him over the finish line again.

    • Angelasmith says:

Ouch. Never want to hear of those scurrilous &$@£>^$)& again. What a great way to decide a primary…. Superdelegates!!!

  6. run_dmc says:

John – I don’t know who you are watching. I stopped watching left media this past weekend. But, no conservative commentators I have seen are in any way shape or form deflated. In fact, they seem to range from supremely confident to clinical and “it’ll be close but Romney will win.”

  7. Angelasmith says:

I still wishin… Wishing since the primaries of the great steal of 2008, that someone would publish IN BIG PRINT exactly who we owe our wonderful media to. Who are these people who decide what info the populace will be fed? You can see the nasty trail they leave behind them… But who are they? I find it hard to believe the putz at NBC news division or the twinks at msnbc are calling any shots. They are just members of a service agency: like busboys/girls. I want someone to talk to the folks in charge and publish what they say: the deciderers (sorry bush- nothing to do with you) must have enormous egos… Can we not urge them to share with us their power and brilliance and not hide behind “journalists”?

John, I am sensing the same thing you are. In addition to what I am reading, I heard some of Rush Limbaugh’s show on Friday and on Monday, and he sounded flat to me.

As much as I want to see O in my rear view mirror, I just don’t think the elites will allow their bestest spokesmodel to be shown the door. And despite all the polling and analysis and apparent volatility, in my opinion it is a tightly-controlled game.

I hope I’m wrong about my expectations, but if I’m right, I console myself with this thought: More Obama might be the only cure for the Obama-itis that ails us. If he is defeated, the myth of Obama will live on and will continue to power those annoying and empty-headed ‘bots. If he is reinstalled, we’ll most likely have a four-years-long “emperor has no clothes” episode that even they can’t ignore.

And There’s Got to Be a Morning After….

Just finished participating in our Democracy. Very long line. Polls opened at 7:00 and there were people on line at 6:00. According to one of the poll workers Polk county has already had 30% turnout with early and absentee voters and she “had never seen it so busy.”

I voted for Romney. I said to myself outloud while filling in his circle, “I can’t believe I am doing this.” But I did. The best argument I heard for voting for Romney is that he will not be able to get away with all the crap that Obama has and perhaps…perhaps… the press will get off their collective asses and report that as an American citizen you can be detained indefinately and killed with no due process. Thanks so much President Obama for that.

I also voted for Bill Nelson. I wish I could have voted for him to stop already with the plastic surgury…he’s starting to look like Bruce Jenner and he totally freaks me out.

That’s the report from Polk County Florida.

  11. Pinellas County, South Pasadena – Just heard on the radio that the scanner broke down at the precinct where I just voted. Florida has more problems – and they only had one scanner. This WILL require a hand count of votes already cast, I would think.

  12. conner43 says:

Just got back from babysitting so youngest kid and her hubs could go vote. They were back in half an hour and reported absolutely no problems. They live on Palm Beach, things always go smoothly in a parallel universe.

  13. Anthony says:

    ***UPDATE FROM PROUD MILITARY MOM***

PMM just called me from the road. Apparently, all of the Obot voting precincts that were brimming with eager voters in ’08 now have room enough in their parking lots for a sizable Romney rally. Nobody’s there, not even the Mouse. Not at the door, not a line to be seen, not a vehicle in sight.

On the other hand, in what PMM calls “Bitter Clinger Country” (Western PA), where the voting precincts usually resemble the abandoned Lucille Roberts storefront in Queens (where I swear I saw Joe Biden drinking out of a paper bag), Romney voters were in lines that extended far beyond the doors, and estimated wait was at least 30-45 minutes. Mind you, these voting precincts are usually breezily empty because PA is usually a shoo-in for the D’s.

PMM promised to call in later with an update, and asked that I post them here as they come in. I have nothing to do today but vote (and laundry), so I will honor her request as the calls come in.

  14. tamerlane says:

I filled out my absentee for Jill Stein for President, and will drop it off on the way to pick up hay.

For the first time in my voting life, I can announce –
    Votes cast for Democrats: 0
    Votes cast for Republicans: 0

Haven’t felt this good about my vote in ages.
